Community Services Department
The Community Services Department consists of six divisions, Administration, Parks and Parkways, Recreation, Natural Resources, Waterfront Operations, and Facility Maintenance. The Administration Division oversees the overall operations of the Community Services Department. It coordinates over 200 city wide special event permits annually, coordinates grant requests, annual CIP and Operational Budgets, the Memorial Program, the Public Art Program, etc. The Parks and Parkways Division maintains an urban forest of approximately 28,000 trees and palms, maintains cul-de-sacs, right of ways, medians, city parks and common areas throughout the city limits. Coordinates canal and waterway cleanup within Naples Bay and Moorings Bay along with beach grooming and raking. The Recreation Division is responsible for the active Parks, Community Centers and athletic facilities located throughout the City, Cambier Park including the Norris Center, the Bandshell and the Arthur L. Allen Tennis Center; Fleischmann Park including the Edge Skatepark; River Park including the city pool; Anthony Park; the Hedges Family Eco-Center at the Naples Preserve; the evening and weekend athletic programs at Gulfview Middle School and summer programs at city school sites. The Natural Resources Division deals with many ecological areas of concern such as Naples bay restoration, Water Quality, Stormwater Runoff, Restoration Projects, Oyster Reefs, Seagrasses, Lake(s) Runoff, Training on Landscaping Best Management Practices (BMPs), Beaches and Inlets. This division also coordinates the service efforts of the Moorings Bay and East Naples Bay Taxing Districts. The Waterfront Operations Division oversees the operations of the Naples City Dock, the City Pier, Lowdermilk Park, Naples Landings, commercial/charter boat city licensing, fuel spill response, the boats on the beach programs, etc. The Facility Maintenance Division oversees the maintenance, cleaning, repairs and minor upgrades to city facilities Advisory Board Meetings
The Ambassador Program is a volunteer program to support the many facilities and programs within the Community Services Department (CSD). In 2004 the CSD Ambassador volunteers contributed over 5,000 hours and over 6,000 hours in 2005. The work of the Ambassadors is worthwhile, fun and educational. Bring your interests and your experiences to the Ambassador program and become part of a "Family of Teams." Ambassadors bring a broad range of skills to the program.
