    INSTRUCTIONS

    Instruction

The Edge offers instruction throughout the year for the following sports; skateboarding, inline skating, freestyle bike riding, and skim boarding. Please call for specific times, dates and prices for the following programs

    Classes

Classes are held in six week sessions. Each class is one hour from 3:30PM to 4:30PM. If a class is canceled for some reason, the session will be extended. All instruction is based on the level of the student. Each week time is spent reviewing skills from previous classes and practicing new skills. Students are encouraged to learn at their own pace. Instructors use a variety of techniques to teach the students new skills. At the end of each class, instructors will assign the students with a skill to practice during the week. We encourage parents to work with their kids. This process helps the students progress.

    Camps

The Edge camps are week long programs designed to build confidence in the students and teach the necessary skills for skaters and bikers to progress. All camps held at the skate park run from 9AM to 12PM. Each day, campers will go through six twenty-five minute sessions. We start with a warm-up and stretch then the campers slowly progress through a variety of stations. Midway through the day campers will be brought into the center for training. It’s a nice break from the sun and heat. At the end of each day of camp, campers are given a free session. This is important because if they go to a skate park they will need to understand the environment and culture.

H2O Camp is a specialty camp that focuses on the extreme water board sports, such as: skim boarding, surfing, wind surfing, kite boarding, and wake boarding. The camp runs from 10AM to 2PM. The camp is broken down into several sessions lasting twenty-five minutes. Five minute breaks are scheduled between each session. No instructor will have more then six students. Campers will learn the various techniques of each sport. Tools such as the Indo Board will be used to teach balance and videos will be used to demonstrate the proper mechanics of each sport.

    Clinics

Every Saturday morning the Edge holds free skate clinics from 11AM to 12PM. The clinics are informal and instructors offer guidance to beginning skaters.

    Private

If your son or daughter requires special attention to get them motivated, then we highly recommend some one on one instruction with our trained instructors. Appointments can be scheduled through the Pro Shop.
