Parks and Parkways Division

The subtropical climate of Southwest Florida gives the City of Naples and opportunity to enjoy a diverse landscape. The Parks and Parkways Division maintains an urban forest of approximately 28,000 trees and palms.

The Parks and Parkways Division has three certified arborists on staff and perform all landscape management to over 125 acres of parks and medians. This includes maintenance of plants, turf, waterways (including bays and beaches), and pest control. Assessing Damage and Restoring Trees After a Hurricane

The University of Florida's Institute of Food and Agricultural Sciences (UFL/IFAS) has released a publication for assessing hurricane damaged trees and restoring them to full vitality. The publication is available online at http://edis.ifas.ufl.edu/pdffiles/EP/EP29100.pdf

Lethal Yellowing Alert

Lethal Yellowing is disease of palm trees that has continued to spread within the City and surrounding counties. The City of Naples is taking an aggressive approach in dealing with this disease. We have established nine treatment zones encompassing four major geographical locations: Port Royal/Royal Harbor, Old Naples, Parkshore, and Gulfshore Boulevard North. Tree Donation Program

The Parks and Parkways Division will remove an unwanted tree or palm from your yard and transplant it where a City tree has been lost due to weather, disease or damage. To date, this program has accepted over 1,425 donated trees and palms and has become a vital component in maintaining the City's urban tree population. Tree donations are eligible for a tax deduction. Please see th Tree Donation Program document on our main page for further detail and contact information regarding this program. NOTE: All potential tree donations are inspected by City staff to ensure they meet certain acceptance criteria. This program is currently suspended. For more information please call 213-7120.

Memorial Program

Bench Memorials

Citizens may choose to donate a bench as a way to commemorate family or friends. Bench memorials with a bronze plaque are placed in pre-approved locations, such as City parks and other designated locations.

Lowdermilk Memorial Plaque

Another memorial option is a memorial nameplate located at Lowdermilk Park. A 1 x 7 inch bronze plate is installed on the Memorial Wall Plaque located on the west side of the Lowdermilk concession building.
